Finding Carp 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
I am having some trouble located carp near me. A month ago it was incredible and all of a sudden it's dead. The river I fish isn't really deep maybe 5 feet at the most very slow water and very very weedy. I know their in there because I have caught them all my life. it is very hot here also around 90's for the past few weeks with little rain. Any ideas of where or what i should be looking for in this river to find and catch Carp?

Thank you

Hi NJCarpFisherman, It seems I'm not the only one experiencing a lull in the fishing. Are these unusual conditions for this river/weather? Here in Illinois we've had river flooding, unusual temps for this time of the year, and the fishing is suffering for it...I too fish a small, shallow river. Typically with excellent results, but not the case this year. The fish maybe unsettled due to these conditions.

Are there any dams, bridges, log jams, eddys or similar structure on this river? These are the kinds of places i frequently catch the most carp on my river.

Other than that...I would just be patient and hopefully the good fishing resumes where you were catching carp before. Thats what I keep telling myself...
