Should you use self rising flour and corn meal in boilies,my boilies swelled up bigger after they were boiled,is this normal or is it because they were made from self rising ingredients?I bought a bag of semolina to try next.

Welcome to the forums mcc.
While corn meal and flour is widely used in dough type baits, its not the best choice for boilies. More common binders attractants would be: full fat soy flour, semolina, fish meal, birdseed, eggs, etc. There are many, many versions of boilie recepies and whos to say whats the best? I believe, to start, one should keep their base recepie simple and effective and easily replicated. From there it can be fine tuned to your preference.
Here are a few recepies for you to check out.
