currently i use 3rods for "carp fishing" they are medium to mideum heavy spinning and a bait caster mot made for casting constantly all spooled with 10 lb test mono or braid bass gear one of the spinning reels is an old rinohide thats probaly 16 years old with a rear drag but its stuck and i cant loosen it so i have to leave it open or backreal to fight fish this is all bass and cat fish gear i was wonderin gif i needed to up grade or if that would work

It really depends on the size of the carp you are catching. your gear will probably be sufficient for small to medium carp but for the bigger carp you will want heavier gear. When you start getting breakoffs you will know the limit of what size you can catch with that particular gear.
