Pressure Cooked Dough Ball 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 1
I'm attempting to find a recipe for a carp bait I used as a kid, 40-45 years ago. I lived in South Eastern Iowa at the time, I think it was a local blend. What I can remember of the mixture is corn meal, flour, sugar?, garlic, Karo? then pressure cooked for 15 minutes at 15 pounds of pressure. We never failed to get some nice carp with this. Anyone heard/knows about this bait?

I used something similar to that when I first started carping but without the Karo and I did not presure cook it, I just cooked it on the stove for 5 minutes and added strawberry jello to it. Knocked them out with it.

I also started carp fishing using a homemade doughbait. It consisted of corn meal, quick oats, and jiffy corn muffin mix and any other goodies you want, with peanut butter for flavor or like carpwalker stated, strawberrys and others work goog too. I always just mixed mine dry with water and a small amount of corn oil so it dont dry out completely. Work it to your consistancy of choice and no cooking needed! Use a single doughbait hook too fish and go get em! Ive caught fish from ca. to id. to ok. and il. on this bait!

Thanks for the input, seems as though my Mom gave it to my wife years ago. It is cornmeal, flour, sugar, garlic 10PSI/10 min. I'll try mixing some up & take the 6 year old Grandson on an adventure.

Outstanding! My grandfather is who taught me to fish and respect nature when I was young. I will forever be grateful to him for giving me the gift of a lifetime to enjoy this great sport and the outdoors! I hope more people take their kids fishing and teach them about enjoying and conserving nature! Thanks for being a part of carp-usa, and be sure to let us know how it goes.
tight lines!
