Carp on dry flies? 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
A couple weeks ago I was fishing on Lady Bird lake when I kept seeing these fish jumping out of the water. The next week I was fishing at the same location and saw it again. This time I got a good look at it, and what do you know it's a carp! I figure it's eating bugs of the surface so I'm bringing my 5 weight out there this Saturday. Any idea what fly to use?

Carp jump for many reasons, many think its feeding. I believe one reason they jump is to clean themselves thus knocking off any parasites, etc. Although carp can be caught on flies the only real info I can offer is www.uscarppromagazine.com has an article in every issue called "fluff chuckin" and I would do some reading. As far as Lady Bird lake we have many members fishing these waters. Perhaps they can help better! good luck!
