practical carp baits 2 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum, and I have been carp fishing for right at a year. I have caught a couple nice fish and there are several 30+ pound fish in my local lake. Chumming and fishing with corn is illegal at the lake, and the carp are hardly pressured. I live at about 6,000 ft in Colorado and all I have ever used is bread. This worked fine, but is there anything else that works just as good??? I don't really want to spend a couple hours making a bunch of boilies, so a little help would be nice:)

Thanks so much,
-Ty

Hi Ty,
you could try peanuts or tiger nuts.

You can also try dog food.. Make sure it sinks and just fish with it like a boilie. But I'm asking myself, why is it illegal to fish with corn??

Chick Peas are also a good bait to try. Since you cant chum, you could use pva bag or packbait to attract the carp to your hookbait. Problem with corn is, it attracts every type of fish, not just carp.
