hey I was just wondering what month do you guys start seriously fishing? I went out a week ago and it is still too slow and cold for me. I was thinking about starting my baiting campaign at the beginning of march, and waiting a week or two before I put a line in the water. In your experience what month does the fishing start to pick up?

In my area, I will seriously start my fishing around April-May. Depending on conditions, as it likes to flood around spring time. After that I will start my pre-baiting.
Good Idea to bait for 1-2 wks, and absolutely no fishing during the baiting period. The idea is to get the carp to being acustomed to eating your boilies with confidence and to lower their guards.
Its a good idea also to prebait with 2 families of boilies I.E. Fishmeal based and birdseed based.
After baiting for a week or two and fishing with the 2 different boilie types, It will become apparent which ones do better and then can use that type exclusively.
If and when the carp catch on to your boilie trap...you can then mix up flavors and techniques to fool them. Such as popup hamburger or snowman popup or even microboilies.
In general the best times to fish in this area is May-Nov.

i started last year in march and the fishing was really hot right from the get go. It really slowed down in september so I decided to start earlier this year. right now we still have ice but it's expected warm up a little within the next few weeks so I thought I would give it a go. I was thinking of using a yellow seed boilie with added CSL powder and lactalbumen, from what I have read this is a great cold water bait. I also plan to feed a fish meal boilie to get the fish confident about them as I plan to switch to these when the weather starts to warm up in a few months.
