Welcome bceddy, for a simple bait to start with, your best choice would be whole kernal corn. Canned is usually the easiest way to go. Or if you find your bait is getting hidden in the rocks, you could try a floating artifical corn, or a nightcrawler injected with air to make it float. Sometimes a piece of bread kneaded on a hook is a good bait. Make sure hook is completely hidden within bait! Use a high quality hook! Pay the extra couple bucks and get the better hooks. Large carp can easily break an inferior hook. Use a heavy action rod and a reel with a good drag. Use a quality line. If you are not sure what kind of line to use, check this thread www.carp-usa.info/component/option,com_k...catid,24/id,132/#132
Although fishing rocky bottoms can be difficult, it can be done. Be stealthy as possible as the carp can see and hear you too! Some even go as far as full camo when carp fishing.
Try giving them some free offerings and see what they will or wont take?
